Without the bitter, sweetness would have no value.
So I will hate on it before I will love on it.
On this beautiful September morning I was reading the book , Of Poseidon, and realized how much I dislike romantic novels. They are cliché and all of them have mostly the same summary. I am reading this book in another English class so I have to read a gateway book and I noticed that 99% of them are about romance.
It's like chewing the same piece of gum all the time. Yuck.
Any who, Of Poseidon, is a different but the same book. While Galen is head over heels for Emma, he has to fake it to get her to his older brother because she is the last descendant of poseidon (hence the title). While taking her through the steps on teaching her about her unusual power he starts to fall in love.
And this is why I don't like romance novels. They all have the same plot and I can predict perfectly the conclusion.
It goes on with Emma fainting a lot and being extremely stubborn.
The rest of the porch is sucked into a black hole of my vision.
The welcome mat beneath me pitches like a rowboat during
a hurricane. I reach for the door or the wall or Galen, but
somehow I miss all three. Suddenly, my feet are swept out
from under me, and my face smacks into his chest.
for the second time in my life.
Emma is being super nice to Galen and tries to reject him when they both like each other but then she thinks that he is using her and that is the most classic plot of every love story. Then he has to leave to check up with his sea world connections and she gets extremely sad to not have him around all the time. She literally starts feeling bad. Girl, give him a break. You guys are obviously not going to be attached hip to hip all the time. And that is where I left off. I really do hope that it has a big plot twist so I could enjoy this book.
On the bright side the author is extremely descriptive and she is engaging in what she is writing in. Brownie points for that. The author also is really good at catching young, teenage girls in this net of romance that never happens in life, that is why it's on gateways book choice list.

But honestly this book isn't as bad as I am describing it, really. Give it a chance. Maybe you'll like reading about people turning into fish. Whatever floats your boat.
